Ngamba island is Located about 23kms from Entebbe mainland in Lake Victoria, Ngamba Island is operated by Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservation Trust where orphaned and rescued chimpanzees live. The island covers 100 acres of land on the island and hosts 50 different types of vegetation that the chimps feed on in addition to the supplementary feeds provided by the management.  The fact is that the rescued chimpanzees find it hard to be intergraded into their natural habitats; they are brought to this island as a rescue measure. Chimpanzees share 97% of the human DNA.  Chimpanzees are released every morning & afternoon from the holding facility to explore their environment foraging for food in the forest. Their feeding is supplemented daily with fruits and vegetables. This is the time the visitors are invited to get involved in the feeding and also photographic moments. The visitors and staff will stand at the viewing platforms and give food to the Chimpanzees. So you can catch these chimpanzees while feeding every day and for you to be able to achieve this you are supposed to catch a boat from Entebbe in the early morning hours at 8:45 am and 12:45 pm respectively.
